Description
At 585 acres Long Pond in Falmouth is the town's drinking water supply. As such the pond iteslf is not open to the public.
However there is a 3 1/2 mile access road circumnavigating the pond that's incredibly popular with hikers, runners, dog walkers and of course mountain bikers.
The route has some hills but is mostly an easy ride.
The trails to the east of the pond are the most mellow. With few elevation changes they mostly flat and suitable for families with you kids.
Oddly, these trails seem to see the least use so are best for people wanting to get away from it all.
The trails on the north end of the property leading out to Brick Kiln Road have some good climbs and descents but are manageable for most riders.
The trails on the west side, black on the TrailForks map, are very challenging.
Grews Pond has a beach and additional parking.
The best description of Long Pond is on the 300 Committe Website.
You'll enjoy riding here, but expect to see lots of other people out on the trails with you.
