Southern New Hampshire NEMBA Thursday Coed Ride

By Aaron Cleaver and Southern NH NEMBA

Location: 271 Mast Rd, Durham, NH. On the UNH Durham Campus

When:Thursdays, 6 PM – 8 PM

Price: Free · Duration: 2 hr

For: Members of Southern NH NEMBA and any anyone who likes to mountain bike.

You do not have to be a MEMBER of NEMBA to join us. But you do have to have signed NEMBA's Annual Waiver to take part.  It needs to be done once a year.

The Thursday Coed Intermediate ride in Durham will be on a mix of fun, twisty singletrack and doubletrack. 10 - 14 miles, social pace, linking several trail local systems including some on campus.

I would call this a Strong Novice ride, but there are some short sections with a lot of roots, so the feedback I have gotten is that the trails are intermediate overall.

If you’re a strong novice rider please feel free to join though. Any technical sections are short and you can walk whatever you’re not comfortable with.

Or try it! I’ll provide info about trails as we go so you’ll have an idea of what to expect up ahead.

This is a no drop ride. The group will wait at intersections to make sure no one gets left behind. The objective is to stay within “the fun zone” for as much of the ride as possible. Bug spray may help when we’re stopped.

Where to meet:
271 Mast Road
Durham, NH 03824

(Note that this is NOT Mast Road Extension, which is over by UNH horse stables).

Park in the lower parking area in front of the brick building (USDA Forest Service). We’ll meet by the flag pole before we start.

Wheels roll at 6:00 PM. Please make sure you and your bike are ready to ride for 6:00 PM.

Please message me if you have any questions. Aaron Cleaver,

Ride Leader: Jacob Shuter

Details - So, you’re not a total beginner and you are able to manage basic mountain bike handling out on the trails but often lack knowledge required to manage the bike and allow you to deal with challenges like roots, rocks, and narrow single track, confidently.

If this is you, come join us for a fun, no drop, no pressure ride to work on gaining that knowledge and experience to hit the trails with more confidence.

The terrain will be closer to intermediate levels but we will be going at it with more of a beginner pace.

This ride is about generating successes and smiles than cranking out miles.

Plan to ride between 4-8 miles at a relaxed pace depending on the groups ability. There will be breaks as needed for the group as well as some stops to session features that interest the group.

Meet at the Depot Rd parking lot by 6pm ET with a 6:15pm rollout. Ride will end by 8pm and duration will be dictated by the groups ability.

Come ride with us!

Updates to this ride will be posted on this Facebook Page.

Southern NH NEMBA Coed Strong Novice Ride

Event by Christopher Gaudet and Southern NH NEMBA

WhereYudicky Park

When: 6 PM EDT – 8 PM EDT, but get there by 5:45 so that we can get the ride off on time.

Price: Free · But you must have already signed NEMBA's Annual Waiver.

For: Members and prospective members of Southern NH NEMBA.

For those that have mastered our Tuesday Night Novice Ride and are wanting a bit more challenge, we introduce our Coed Strong Novice Ride.

This ride is not for beginners as we'll be riding more difficult terrain, just at a slower pace than an intermediate group would.

You should feel comfortable riding tight singletrack and more elevation than is found at Mine Falls.

If this is you, come and join us!

We will be riding Yudicky Park and we'll be meeting in the large parking lot just after the ball fields.

Be on the lookout for a blue Ford Explorer suv as we'll meet there for a pre-ride discussion. A helmet is required (no exceptions).

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

Eventbrite signups are no longer required for this ride.

We will split up into 2 groups as necessary by ability. I will lead the "B" Group and Jeff (or another ride leader) will lead the "A" Group.

Directions from NEMBA website:

Go to the intersection of Gregg Rd and Groton Rd (Main Dunstable Rd) in Nasuha NH

From the South, take Exit 5 West off of Route 3 in Nashua, turn left at the first set of lights and continue onto Main-Dunstable Road (111A). Follow the rest of directions below.

From the North, take Exit 5 West off of Route 3 in Nashua. Go straight at the light at the end of the ramp onto Main-Dunstable Road (111A). Drive about 4 miles, at the intersection of Gregg Rd and Groton Rd (Main Dunstable Rd) Turn right on to the paved road on the right of the ball field. Park in the large parking lot on the left just after the ball fields.

Or: Just enter Lovewell Pond Yudicky Farm into Google Maps.

SNH NEMBA Windham Wednesday Intermediate Ride

Event Date

10/13/21 (All day)

SNH NEMBA Wednesday Windham Intermediate Ride

LocationWindham High School (New Hampshire)

Time: 5:45 PM EDT

Lights:  Lights are required.

For: Members and prospective members of Southern NH NEMBA

Intermediate ride, 8-12 miles, 90-120 minutes, no drop - I will not leave anyone behind.

During the first half of the ride, there will be multiple bail out points with direct routes to the lot for anyone short on time or who decides the ride isn’t for them.

We will ride at a moderate pace with breaks at intersections to regroup and give people a breather.

There is some tech involved, so you should be fairly comfortable with singletrack with roots and rocks, but know there is no shame in walking some sections.

The main goal of this ride is to have fun riding in a group and to help encourage people to become more comfortable on intermediate, and sometimes technical, terrain.

So if you are an advanced novice unsure about this, I encourage you to come give it a try because this is how you will get better.

If you have any questions or want more details, feel free to message me on Facebook or send me an email at

Please sign the waiver in advance. You only need to sign once for any NEMBA group ride or trail care day for all of 2021: https://smartwaiver.com/splash/17029. You don't need to be a NEMBA member to ride with us, but you do have to sign the waiver.

Where to meet: We will be meeting in the Windham High School parking lot. As you drive up the road to the HS, take your first right before the big cat, then turn into the lot immediately on the right. We will meet at the far end near the maintenance shed. Look for a white Tacoma with a NEMBA and other MTB-related stickers.

We meet at 5:45 and will be ready to roll by 6pm.

BK NEMBA Trail Day In the Food Network

Date

5/6/21 (All day)

Who wants to have some fun?

Lets meet this Saturday at 8:30 AM (or whenever you drag yourself out of bed) in West Keene at the start of Biscuits and Gravy in the Food Network.

Not sure where that is, reach out and we can meet up. It's where all the logging starts.

Feel free to walk or ride in.

A lot of the work will be hand work - just moving brush and logs off the trail. Some of the branches are embedded in the mud, so bring gloves. If you are walking in, bring a metal garden rake. A small handsaw could come in handy as well.

We'll be able to spread the work out, but throw a mask in your pocket in case you end up getting close to people.

I'll be asking people to sign in, to help track volunteer hours and for Covid protocols.

Sign the NEMBA Annual Waiver ahead of time if you haven't already done so.
