5/15/22 (All day)
Welcome! Join us for the second event of the 2022 Maine Gravel Series, The Pine Tree Loop!
This soon-to-be-classic, trip-back-in-time roughly follows the former Maine Central rail line from the headwaters of Belfast, inland to the Great Pines of Waldo County, cue "Where's Waldo?" The course will cover a mix of old rail bed to dirt roads and ATV tracks, as well as some classic New England busted-ass pavement. With a roundtrip pass, you can choose from the 40 mile scenic Belfast route or go for broke and venture further north on the 60 mile loop, a.k.a Moosehead. Both rides start and finish from the heart of coastal Maine in Belfast, exact location TBD. This is gonna be a good one, and not to toot our own horns or anything, but, choo-choo!
This event will be self-supported, there are no course markings. A paper map will be available at the start (yay!) and a GPX file will be provided to all participants in an email sent on the Wednesday before the event. If you don't have a GPS device, make friends with someone who does, or just follow someone like a vigilante trailing a perp. Not too close, don't wanna spook them, but don't wanna lose them either...
This ride will be a benefit to the Belfast Area chapter of NEMBA! Help us help them help the mountain bikers of the Belfast area!
If we don't reach our rider cap of 150 heads, there will be day-of registration. If we do sell out, shoot us a message and we'll see if we can work something out!
Any add'l questions or info needed? Feel free to reach out!
You can register and get more information here.
Stay tuned for more rides on the '22 MGS calendar, TBA! Read more about [node:title]

Early in 2021 Greater Portland NEMBA won a $10,000 NEMBA Signature Trail Grant.
Project Description: GP NEMBA and the Gorham Conservation Commission (GCC) teamed up to create a
beginner-friendly flow trail.
The Goal: Create a flow-type trail with rollers, berms, and progressive jumps that would entice beginner to intermediate user levels but also be fun for advanced riders.
Knolly Roller is a closed and unidirectional loop utilizing existing geographical features such as knolls and depressions.
The trail is .86 miles in length and adjacent to the Lavoie Bike Park; home to a pump track that abuts an existing trail network of over 15 miles of singletrack.
It is also conveniently located between Gorham’s high school and middle school campuses.
Work will continue to make it even better. But for now . . .
