PR NEMBA Bog Bridge Build

Date

11/6/21 10:00am

The Bangor Land Trust has scheduled a bog bridge construction project on Charlies Trail/Ridge Trail and are looking for volunteers!

The project will take place Saturday November 6th at 10:00am, with a rain date of Sunday November 7th.

We will meet at the end of Tamarack Trail off Essex Street to walk in and begin work.

The project will consist of transporting cut cedar rounds to the work site, preparing the ground for bridging, and installing hemlock planks on the cedar rounds to create an eight section bog boardwalk.

We will need the following tools:

-A chainsaw and volunteer willing to operate the saw for cutting cedar rounds

-Battery powered drills for drilling planks

-Shovels/pick axes (PRNEMBA owns and will provide these) for preparing the ground surface and creating drains

-Heavy hammer for pounding spikes into bridging

-Sturdy footwear and work gloves

Please reply via email to by Wednesday November 3rd if you are able to attend so we can provide an accurate head count and tool count to the Bangor Land Trust.

If you have not yet done so, please fill out the annual NEMBA waiver. This only needs to be signed once per year, takes less than 2 minutes, and ensures proper insurance and liability coverage for all those participating in any NEMBA event.

MC NEMBA Trail Day

Date

11/6/21 (All day)

McMaine NEMBA Trail Day

When: Saturday November 6, @ 8:30

Where: Tobogannon-ville, Camden Snow Bowl

Please come and join us for another chance to get dirty on the mountain!
Meet us at 8:30 at CSB Tobogannon-ville parking lot.

We made great progress last week before the deluge, and most of our work is intact and ready for finish work.

We'll hike up the hill (you can bring your bike if you can figure out how to attach buckets or tools to it).

We will be working just above Freebooter, lateral to the lookout ski trail and below the mainsail crosscut.

We have dirt to move drainages to tune, more dirt to move and compact, etc.

If we have a huge turnout, we'll take some splinter groups to address some blowouts from the storm last weekend, but it's not as bad as you might think!

We'll wrap up at 12:30. Sign the waiver for the year if you haven't yet:

Thanks and see you on the hill!
